Mass casualty collision on Manitoba Highway claims several lives

Manitoba RCMP and emergency workers are responding to a mass casualty collision on Highway 1 near Highway 5 in Manitoba. The collission took place between a semi-truck and a vehicle carrying several people near the town of Carberry in southwestern Manitoba.

RCMP units from across western Manitoba are on scene to assist along with other first responders. RCMP Major Crime Services are en route and will be taking carriage of the investigation, police said in a news release.

According to some media reports, 15 people were killed in the accident. The RCMP will be holding a press conference  today to provide more information.
