District of Squamish is alerting local residents of coyote activity in Garibaldi Estates.
The Conservation Officer Service has received multiple reports of a coyote family frequenting Pat Goode Park in Garibaldi Estates, raising concern for public safety.
In June this year, District had issued a warning after coyotes were seen near the Brennan Park Recreation Centre.
‘If you are a pet owner, please ensure they are kept indoors at night and keep dogs on leash when in the area. Small dogs and cats can be at risk of a coyote attack,” District says. Those who keep backyard hens should ensure they are kept enclosed by an electric fence. Chickens, eggs and chicken feed will attract wildlife into your yard, District cautions.
Parents are also encouraged to talk to their children and teach them what to do if they encounter a coyote. Any aggressive coyote behaviour should be reported to the 24-hour Conservation Officer RAPP line at 1.877.952.7277.

That’s a nice-looking coyote, I’m a big fan. We have had coyotes in Brackendale for ages. They keep the house cat population down. We have no feral cats in Brackendale
