Snowfall warning in effect for Sea to Sky Highway

staff report
December 1, 2023 7:59am

A snowfall warning is in effect for Sea to Sky, from Squamish to Whistler. Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected tonight on the Sea to Sky Highway.

“An intense frontal trough will bring snow to inland areas of the south coast tonight. Snow is expected to develop early this evening, and become heavy overnight,” says Environment Canada. Expect conditions to improve Saturday morning as the system exits the region.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
