Snowfall warning for Squamish

staff report
January 7, 2024 5:09pm

Brace for snow, Squamish. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Howe Sound. Anywhere from 10 to 15 cm is expected.

“The heaviest snow is expected to fall late Monday afternoon and into the evening. Freezing levels will rise with the arrival of the warm front, and the heavy snow is expected to transition to rain by late Monday evening,” the agency says.

Heavy snow may reduce visibility, so be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.  To report severe weather, email BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

A winter storm is also in the forecast for Coquihalla Highway, from Hope to Merritt, with heavy snow expected in the BC Interior beginning Monday late in the day.

Snow is forecast to develop ahead of the incoming front on Monday and become particularly heavy on Monday afternoon. Periods of heavy snow can be expected for much of Tuesday through to Wednesday morning. Along with heavy snow, strong winds are also possible.
