For 20 years, the Squamish Community Foundation (SCF) has inspired generosity and built community knowledge, engagement, and leadership. Since 2003, the non-profit has, through its endowment funds, administered over $1,000,000 in community grants to various local causes, including health, environment, youth, music, arts, and more.
The Squamish Community Foundation began in 2003 when a group of founding donors had the insight and community commitment to create the foundation. The initial donations of 17 donors seeded the Smart and Caring Endowment Fund – the foundation’s most flexible fund- allowing the SCF to respond to some of Squamish’s most urgent needs causes through its Annual Grants.
The foundation distributes annual grants to registered charities for community projects and Neighbourhood Small Grants and Community Enhancement Grants.
Last year, the organization hosted the first-ever Squamish Trivia Night and over 75 people gathered at Westwinds to enjoy a night of games, great food, and lots of laughs. The SCF raised over $20,000 for the Smart and Caring Endowment Fund.
The SCF manages endowment funds, a pool of donations from corporate and individual contributors that earns yearly income and creates a permanent funding source. The capital of these funds—over one million in assets—is managed and monitored by the Squamish Community Foundation Board of Directors. The foundation distributes its grants from the income earned on the endowment funds.
Here are ways you can donate to the foundation so it can continue this important work.
