Two charged after violent robbery at high-end Vancouver clothing store

staff report
February 4, 2024 10:11am

Two people have been arrested and charged following a violent robbery at a high-end Kitsilano clothing store Monday evening.

Armed with bear spray, the suspects entered the store, located near West 4th Avenue and Arbutus Street, just before 6:30 p.m. They deployed the spray and stole more than $25,000 in merchandise, Vancouver Police said in a press release. The suspects fled in a taxi as VPD officers were responding. Information from witnesses helped police quickly locate the cab.

One suspect was arrested in the taxi near Burrard Street and East 2nd Avenue. The other was taken into custody a short time later near East Hastings and Gore Street. Anthony Britch, 35, is charged with theft, assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Alana DaSilva, 30, is charged with theft.

Britch remains in custody until his next court appearance. DaSilva has been released from custody with court-ordered conditions.
