Highstream flow advisory for Howe Sound

February 28, 2024 4:31pm

The River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the South Coast, including the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound and Sea-to-Sky region.

A High Streamflow Advisory means that river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly, but no significant flooding is expected. Fast-flowing bodies of water increase the risk to life safety. Minor flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

The advisory is also in place for lower Fraser Tributaries, including the North Shore Mountains, Fraser Valley, Lillooet River, and Fraser Canyon. Rivers are rising in response to rainfall from last night and are expected to continue to grow through Wednesday and into Thursday. The River Forecast Centre continues to monitor the conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
