Vancouver woman dies in serious incident at Whistler Blackcomb

staff report
March 11, 2024 6:39pm

Tragedy struck Whistler Blackcomb over the weekend as a 32-year-old woman from Vancouver died in what officials termed a “serious incident” at the ski resort.

According to reports, the woman became separated from an associate on Saturday and was found unresponsive by Whistler Blackcomb Ski Patrol. The incident occurred on the Renegade trail, described by the resort as an “advanced gladed trail” near the Catskinner Express Chairlift.

Whistler Blackcomb’s Chief Operating Officer, Belinda Trembath, expressed condolences to those affected by the tragedy. She said that “tragdies like this weigh heavily on all of us, and our hearts go out to the guest’s family and friends.”

This marks the third fatality at Whistler Blackcomb this season. In January, two separate incidents claimed the lives of a 42-year-old man on January 10 and a 62-year-old man on January 17. RCMP is now working with the BC Coroners Service to investigate the incident.
