Squamish Fire Rescue urges residents to stay safe by reminding them to test their smoke alarms monthly and to always “close before you doze” – close the bedroom door when sleeping.
This reminder comes after Squamish Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire in the 41000 block of Government Road at 8 am in the morning. No one was injured in the fire. The home owner was outside when fire crews arrived and was assessed and released by BC Ambulance.

In a statement, District of Squamish said fire crews worked quickly with an offensive fire attack to extinguish the fire and completed a thorough search of the home. Squamish Fire Rescue had four fire apparatus and five support vehicles on scene with a crew of 20 firefighters and two chief officers.
The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation, and the fire department did not release any further information.
