A distraught woman has been safely apprehended after police in Squamish were called to a residence on Tantalus Road. The police incident happened in the afternoon.

The Squamish RCMP immediately arrived on the scene and called for additional support from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), RCMP Air Services, BC Emergency Health Services, Squamish Fire Rescue, and the District of Squamish due to the perceived level of risk.

After negotiations, the IERT safely apprehended the woman, who had apparently self-inflicted injuries. She was treated on the spot and taken to a local hospital for further treatment. The Squamish RCMP has expressed their gratitude to the neighbours and the public for their cooperation in avoiding the area while the situation was being resolved.
