Two people escaped uninjured after a car plunged into the ocean in an accident on Marine Drive in West Vancouver.

A spokesperson for the West Vancouver Police Department said the crash happened along the 3700 block of Marine Drive in West Vancouver. At approximately 12:10 p.m., a vehicle left the road and ended up in the ocean, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

Upon arrival, officers from the West Vancouver Police Department found that the vehicle had veered off the road and submerged in the ocean. Fortunately, both occupants managed to exit the car safely and did not sustain serious injuries. The West Vancouver Fire Department is working to recover the vehicle from the water. Meanwhile, the WVPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The police are appealing to the public for assistance. They ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to contact them.  “We are grateful that no one was seriously hurt,” said Sgt Chris Bigland, “and we thank those who stopped to assist with the rescue efforts and the police investigation”.

The investigation remains active, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
