A 28-year-old woman from North Vancouver was killed in a two-vehicle crash that shut down Highway 97 near MacKenzie on Saturday afternoon.

BC Highway Patrol said the collision happened around 1:45 p.m. on August 16 at Bijoux Falls, when a black Dodge Ram 3500 towing a flat deck trailer collided with a black Ford Bronco. The woman, who was a passenger in the Bronco, did not survive. The drivers of both vehicles, along with two other passengers, were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Police said they are focusing on how the two vehicles were being driven before the crash. “Police are very interested in how these vehicles were driving in the minutes leading up to the collision, and we’re looking for more witnesses who saw that black Ford Bronco or the black Dodge Ram towing a trailer,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “If you have dash camera footage that’s also crucial.”

Anyone with information or dash cam video is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol – Prince George at 250-649-6004 and quote file number (3100) 2025-664.
