A 25-year-old Qualicum Beach man lost his Porsche 718 GT4 RS after BC Highway Patrol officers stopped him for excessive speeding on the Island Highway near Hillview Road, Nanoose Bay.
According to BC Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 3, 2025. Officers saw a black Porsche accelerate away from two motorcycles already traveling well above the 90 km/h limit. The Porsche was clocked at 144 km/h.
“Had this driver showed a little restraint, it might have been the motorcycles that were ticketed and impounded,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin. “Instead, this driver raced straight into the hassle and lost opportunity of watching his expensive car get impounded for seven days.”
The vehicle was impounded for one week. Police said fines, towing and impound fees, along with high-risk driver premiums for at least the next three years, will cost the driver $2,500 or more.
BC Highway Patrol said speeding is consistently one of the top three causes of fatal collisions in British Columbia and remains one of its top enforcement priorities.
