Squamish Walmart to add fresh produce, meat as it becomes Supercentre

Staff report
January 12, 2026 11:05am

Squamish shoppers will soon be able to buy fresh groceries at Walmart.

Walmart Canada says its Squamish store is beginning a transformation into a Walmart Supercentre, a move that will add a full grocery section—including fresh produce, meat, seafood, baked goods and dairy—alongside the general merchandise already sold at the location. The store is marking its 20th anniversary this year, and Walmart says the renovation will give the community a “one-stop shopping” experience while maintaining the retailer’s everyday low prices.

Once completed, the Squamish Walmart Supercentre will offer grocery pickup and delivery services, a Walmart Pharmacy, and expanded food options, including fresh meat such as chicken, pork and beef.

“This transformation is incredibly exciting for our associates and customers, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 20 years of serving Squamish,” said store manager Donna Ricci, adding that customers have been asking for a Supercentre format with both groceries and general merchandise.

Walmart Canada senior director of real estate Shawn Fujiki thanked the District of Squamish for its collaboration during the rezoning process, which allowed the project to move forward.

Construction is expected to take place while the store remains open, with Walmart anticipating a grand reopening celebration this summer. Customers can follow renovation updates through the store’s Facebook page.

This U.S. retailing is the worst insult to our established community. Remember to put your elbows up.
