Sea to Sky RCMP arrested a man with an outstanding warrant in downtown Squamish on Thursday morning after he attempted to flee from officers.
Investigators with the Squamish detachment were on patrol around 9 a.m. on April 30 when they spotted the man, whom they recognized as being wanted on a warrant.
“The male once again attempted to flee from police, but investigators quickly and effectively took steps to take this individual into custody, resolving the situation safely,” said Corporal Katrina Boehmer, media relations officer for the Sea to Sky RCMP.
Boehmer said police are aware the arrest may have been witnessed by people in the area.
“We are aware that numerous individuals in the area may have witnessed the altercation that occurred. The individual with the outstanding warrant sustained no reported injuries during the arrest,” she said.
Police say additional charges unrelated to the outstanding warrant are being considered, and for that reason no further details are being released at this time. Anyone with information about a crime is asked to contact the Sea to Sky Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or visit www.solvecrime.ca.
