The Squamish Adventure Centre is looking for someone to take over its food and drink space after its previous cafe operator, Caffe Garibaldi, moved on. The District of Squamish has officially opened the process to find a replacement.

The centre, located just off Highway 99 at 38551 Loggers Lane, sees heavy foot traffic year-round. More than 148,000 visitors come through the space annually, making it the third busiest Visitor Information Centre in British Columbia.

Lesley Weeks, Executive Director of Tourism Squamish, says the cafe has always been an important part of what makes the centre work as a gathering point for visitors.

“A cafe helps create a welcoming environment that encourages visitors to stop, spend time in the facility, browse local products, learn more about the destination, and ultimately head out into the community to experience Squamish firsthand,” said Weeks.

The available space runs up to 2,220 square feet of interior space, including a cafe counter area, plus an 833-square-foot patio. The District says the space can be split if more than one operator is interested.

The centre sits alongside a gift shop, local exhibits, a theatre, and the visitor information desk. Weeks says the hope is to find an operator who understands the centre’s broader purpose.

“The Squamish Adventure Centre was purpose-built as a gateway to the community, a place where visitors can stop, learn about Squamish, discover local businesses and experiences, and be inspired to explore everything the community has to offer,” Weeks said. “We look forward to working with a long-term operator who shares that vision.”

The District is accepting expressions of interest and is asking applicants to submit a business overview, relevant experience, proposed lease terms, and two references.
