Wildfire Smoke Advisory Issued for Sea to Sky Region

The Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority has issued a Wildfire Smoke Advisory for the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and surrounding areas because of forest fire smoke that is affecting areas from Howe Sound through Squamish and Whistler to Pemberton and surrounding areas. New 40-Kilometre Sea to Sky Trail Opens

The 40-kilometre marine trail spans Howe Sound -- from Horseshoe Bay to Squamish to Gibsons -- and includes campsites in Porteau Cove, Halkett Bay and Plumper Cove provincial parks along with six new provincial marine recreation sites.

Elk Crossing Signs to be Installed on Highway 99

The signs, which are to be installed at the northbound lane near the Cleveland Avenue intersection as well as at the southbound lane near the Mamquam River Bridge, are expected to help mitigate vehicle-wildlife collisions along Highway 99 and protect the local elk population.
