Two years ago I began the task of obtaining lights for the Squamish Skate Park. Over the duration of this time period I have developed a true sense of the community of Squamish and how wonderful our home is.
We have so many great citizens who contribute to our home and I would like to thank them for all the hard work they do to make Squamish better for all.
From the get go in the beginning, I had full support and backing from the District of Squamish, management, staff, mayor and council.
This collective working together showed me how the district is capable of guiding, initializing, and implementing the necessary steps needed in order to complete one individual’s goals for the betterment of our community.
Thank you everyone at the District of Squamish, Mayor, Council, and Staff for all of your help and commitment to the completion of this project, you people Rock!
Once I received the green light on the project the volunteers and donations began to pile up.
I would like to give A Big Thanks to Laroy Watt and BC Hydro for donating the wooden poles. A Big Shout Out to Jay Clarke, and Arctic Power crew for helping with the installation of the lights and running the Wire.
A Big Thanks also to Brett Webber and Black Tusk Cranes for placing the poles. Thank you to Shawn McDaniels and SQ Pre-Fab for building the footing for the electrical Kiosk.
And huge thanks are also due to both the Bobs at Cardinal Concrete for providing concrete on many of the upgrades we have been building at the Squamish Skate Park.
Derrick Johnston and DJ Equipment, thank you for all the work in building the light brackets.
Thank you to Valid Manufacturing for providing the Electrical Kiosk. Thank Maurice Frietag and the SLRD for helping me through the grant application process. Mei McCurdy and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation get a huge thank you for the financial funding through their grants.
Alta Lake Electric get the last thank you, Sean O’Sullivan and most importantly, Wade Laktin were amazing! Wade you rule!
Thank you for taking charge Wade, you really set all these volunteers up for the job. I truly appreciate all the hard work, time and products you put into this Project.
This was a community endeavor and brought a great group of people together to accomplish a community improvement.
As for me, this was a joyful experience, witnessing how a community can function as a whole to make our home a better place.
Thank you everyone for helping with this project and everywhere else you volunteer your time into our community.
And yes, thank you to all volunteers: it is your contributions that help make Squamish a special place.

Yep, it often takes just 1 person with a passion and desire turned into action to get a result. Hurray Mike for being that person.

And thx to all the noise that is created late into the night by rowdy folks in the park, but then again who cares for the people who live close by!
