Police tow dirt bike, issue violation ticket in Brackendale

March 10, 2018 10:41am

On Saturday, March 17th, Squamish RCMP noted a Green Kawaski dirt bike running on a trail off Government Road in Brackendale.  The driver was identified and issued several Violation Tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act and the Off Road Vehicle Act.  The dirt bike was also towed for not having insurance.

Squamish RCMP is reminding the public that to drive a dirt bike within city boundaries and on public roads  requires appropriate insurance and qualifications.  The police would like you to check with ICBC and the Off Road Vehicle Act for more information and specifications.

Squamish RCMP have also recovered a stolen dirt bike. RCMP received a call to the area of Chief Billy Drive where a local resident had located a dirt bike underneath a tarp.  Upon arrival police were able to determine the dirt bike was a match to one stolen from a residence Plateau Drive the previous week.  The Forensic Identification Section were called in to process the bike for evidence.  A red and white kids 50CC dirt bike is still outstanding from that theft.

Squamish RCMP were alerted to a report of a vehicle which was stolen from Hunter Place and was located through the vehicle’s OnStar system. It was abandoned on Glacier View Drive in The Highlands.   The newer model red Chevrolet Sonic was towed to the Squamish RCMP detachment for the Forensic Identification Section to exam.  Squamish RCMP are requesting anyone who saw that vehicle in the area of The Highlands to contact them.

Anyone with any information regarding the above files are asked to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, text 274637, or go to www.solvecrime.ca
