Squamish RCMP issued tickets to three drivers who were going above the speed limit on Highway 99.
On March 4, a police officer stopped three cars travelling at a speed of 153 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
All three drivers were issued violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act for speeding.
The cars were impounded for seven days.
Squamish RCMP and Sea to Sky Traffic Services have been conducting road checks in Squamish neighborhoods and on the highway as part of a distracted driving campaign.
This campaign will continue in March. Distracted driving is responsible for more than one in four fatal crashes on BC roads, according to ICBC.
While cellphone usage gets a lot of the attention, distracted driving includes any activity that impacts the ability to focus on the road, ICBC says.
