Warning after attempt to break into a car at Shannon Falls park

staff report
August 27, 2020 12:18pm

Squamish RCMP are reminding people to use caution when parking vehicles in tourist spots after two people were seen using tools to break into a car at a local tourist spot.

Squamish RCMP received a report of two people trying to break into a vehicle in the parking lot of Shannon Falls Provincial Park.

They were seen using tools to break into the vehicle when someone saw and yelled at them. They ran away before the police could arrest them.

The police are reminding the public to use caution when parking vehicles in tourist locations, as thieves often target these areas.

People are also reminded to take valuables out of the car after parking it.

Squamish Valley FSR flooded

On August 21, Squamish RCMP received a report that Squamish Valley FSR had flooded around the 5 km marker.

The police ensured that no individuals needed emergency assistance, and the road was barricaded by the Ministry of Forest.

Some campers were stranded on the other side of the road but were assisted by Squamish Search and Rescue.

The high tourist areas should have cameras maybe it can’t be used as evidence but identification would be useful, there are probably relatively few ppl who do this
