Police stop tourist from taking dangerous selfies at Shannon Falls

Squamish RCMP responded to a complaint about an individual trying to take dangerous selfies at Shannon Falls.

On November 1, the police were called about an individual trying to jump off the peak of Shannon Falls.

Squamish RCMP responded immediately and requested the assistance of the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, RCMP Air Services and Search & Rescue.

However, the police found out it was an excited tourist was who jumping up and down to take selfies.

Vehicle impounded for speeding

The police ticketed a driver travelling 143 km/hour in a 90 km/hour zone on Highway 99.

Squamish RCMP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 99 at the Tantalus Lookout when they stopped the speeding vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a $368 ticket for excessive speed.
