Police seek info after ‘brazen’ robbery at Park Royal mall

Staff report
February 2, 2021 10:36am

Investigators from West Vancouver police are seeking information that will help to identify a man who stole $10,000 worth of sunglasses from a store in Park Royal Mall over the weekend.

On January 30, at 6:40 pm, officers were called to the Sunglass Hut after witnesses reported that a man had entered the store, and brandished a canister of bear spray.

When the suspect was challenged by the store clerk, he deployed the bear spray inside the store, and then stole a large amount of designer sunglasses and ran off.

There were no reported injuries.

Police immediately set up roadblocks in the area, but the suspect managed to escape.

“This was a brazen robbery in the middle of a busy mall,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy.

“We are hoping that someone may have information to assist with identifying this suspect.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his mid-twenties, with brown hair, wearing a blue/white disposable medical mask, black hoodie with white logo, black pants, black shoes with white sole, and was carrying a gym-style blue bag with red shoulder strap.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300.

If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit solvecrime.ca.
