Driver fined for travelling 150 km/h on Highway 99

A driver travelling at 149 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Highway 99 was handed a violation ticket for excessive speeding by police.

On April 2, Sea to Sky Traffic Services was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 99 in the Britannia Beach area when they saw a driver travelling at 149 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Police issued the driver a violation ticket for excessive speed and impounded the driver’s car for seven days.

Transportation was arranged for the driver and passenger who were not from the local area.

Break and Enter

On April 1, at about 4:30 pm, police received a complaint about two men looking into vehicles in the Britannia Beach area.

Police attended and later found the males trying to break into a construction site. Both were arrested for break and enter, and later released from custody for future court appearance.

Theft from business

On March 31, an unknown thief stole a laser level valued at $300 from a local business on Mamquam Road, and police are investigating.
