Warning issued about aggressive bear on dog pound dike

Staff report
June 2, 2021 11:53am

The District of Squamish and the Conservation Officer Service (COS) have issued a Public Safety Warning about a bear exhibiting defensive behaviour along the dog pound dike.

The bear has charged at people in the area, district says.

The warning was issued following multiple reports of close encounters with a large bear travelling along the dog pound dike.

The public is being asked to avoid the area, and signage will be posted to alert the public to use extra caution and to keep dogs on leash at all times.

COS is urging people to report any wildlife sightings or encounters at 1.877.952.7277 or online here.
