Change rooms at Brennan Park broken into

Staff report
July 4, 2021 8:14am

Squamish RCMP are investigating a break-in at the change rooms at the parks building behind the Brennan Park Recreation Centres.

On June 27, between 2 and 7 am, the change rooms at the Brennan Park soccer field were broken into.

Suspects gained access by breaking a door off its hinges. However, nothing was stolen, although the suspects used the shower facilities.

The Integrated Forensic Identification Section examined the scene, and this file remains under investigation.

On June 26, a local resident reported finding a kayak and shoes that were in the water near Spit Road in Squamish.

Police determined the owner was safe and sound, and had left the kayak earlier when conditions had become unsafe. The owner had been trying to locate the kayak.

On June 26, at about 4 am, Squamish RCMP also responded to a report of break-and-enter in progress in the 1500 block of Pemberton Avenue.

On arrival, investigators located the male suspect who had stolen some copper wire.  Police arrested the man and released him with a number of conditions and a future court date.
