Crews search for missing swimmer in Lions Bay

Squamish RCMP, Coast Guard and other agencies are searching for a missing swimmer in Lions Bay.

On July 21, at about 5 pm, Squamish RCMP received a call about a man who went swimming in the ocean off a dock in Lions Bay.

The went underwater and did not surface.

Upon receiving the call, Squamish RCMP worked with RCMP Air 1, Lions Bay Fire Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue to search for the man.

The search was paused last night, but resumes today. The RCMP Dive Team will also be on hand today to help with the search.

“We are working with the community and our partners, using all the resources we have available to bring this man back to his family,” says Cpl. Angela Kermer of Squamish RCMP.

    This is not accurate, the loction is OceanPoint in Area A, not Lions Bay.
