There have been two rock slides at the Stawamus Chief within 24 hours, and BC Parks and Squamish RCMP are asking people to stay away until rock stability can be assessed.
The first slide happened in the early hours of Monday, near Peak 1 and Peak 2.
BC Parks, Fire Rescue, and Squamish RCMP did joint and individual patrols to ensure no one was hurt.
The second slide happened near Angel’s Crest Trail around 4:45 pm, and there have been no reports of any injuries.
“We ask people to stay away from the area until BC Parks can assess the situation and until they deem okay to return,” says Cpl. Dallas Langley of the Squamish RCMP.
“While this area is popular for recreation enthusiasts, we need to make sure people stay safe.”
Squamish RCMP can be contacted at 604-892-6100, or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or, go to www.solvecrime.ca
