Rainfall warning for Howe Sound

Environment Canada has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Howe Sound, North Shore and Metro Vancouver communities.

Heavy rain is to be expected tonight and tomorrow.

As much as 50 to 70 mm is expected with amounts possibly exceeding 90 mm for Howe Sound and over the North Shore Mountains.

The rain starts this evening and continues tomorrow.

Southeasterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h are also expected this evening. Rain along with gusty winds will begin this evening.

The rain is expected to intensify throughout the night and continue throughout the day tomorrow while the gusty winds are expected to ease off before morning.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, the agency cautions.
