Up to 120 mm of rain possible in Squamish

Staff report
November 27, 2021 7:58am

A special weather statement is in effect for Squamish. Squamish may see up to 120 mm of rain.

Rain will continue until Sunday afternoon, with the heaviest rain on Saturday night. The alert is also in effect for Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound and Sunshine Coast.

Gibsons will also receive 50 to 80 mm of rain.

A warming effect of this weather system will cause snow levels to rise well above the mountain tops on Saturday afternoon.

Snowmelt will contribute to run off increasing the risk of flooding and possibly impacting vulnerable landscape and infrastructure.
