A 25-year-old woman from North Vancouver woman was identified as the victim of a fatal stabling that took place last month near a mall in Burnaby.

Melissa Blimkie was fatally stabbed outside a parkade near the Metropolis at Metrotown Walmart. The tragic incident happened around 11:40 am on December 19.

IHIT took charge of the investigation and have now charged her boyfriend, 31-year-old, Everton Downey with second-degree murder. “This is an unimaginable loss for the friends and family of Melissa,” said IHIT spokesperson Sgt. David Lee.

IHIT today released a photo of Melissa Blimkie and have asked people who may have any information to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

So sad for another senseless loss.
    Question:
How come they don’t blame the knife???
If he used a gun it would be a completely different news narritve and gun control and regulations would be all over this!
