Traffic stop in Squamish yields drugs, machetes

Staff report
January 20, 2022 11:38am

Squamish RCMP arrested two people after finding drugs, weapons and two machetes during a traffic stop. On January 12, an officer pulled over a driver in town because he seemed impaired.

The officer noticed a “prohibited weapon” at the feet of the passenger, though police did not specify what this weapon was. Officers arrested both the driver and the passenger for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

More officers were called and the search of the car revealed drugs and two machetes, which were in an arm’s reach of the driver. The driver was arrested but later released with paperwork for future court appearance. The vehicle was towed.

Break-and-Enter

On January 18, 2022 at approximately 1 am, Squamish RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter into a residential garage in the 39000 block of Government Road.

However, the suspect left after the garage alarm sounded. He appeared to be wearing light clothing and a ball cap with possibly grey snow pants.

Squamish RCMP is asking people to report such incidents to the police.

Great news with the exception of the suspects being allowed on the streets waiting for our lax legal system to decide if they are a danger to society. maybe the muslums do have a point.
