Major accident shuts down Sea to Sky Highway

A major highway collision has shut the Sea to Sky Highway in both directions. Two people were injured in this accident, says Squamish RCMP.

The highway is closed both between Porteau Cove and Lions Bay due to major vehicle collision. The accident around 4:50 om, about eight kilometers south of Porteau Cove.

ROAD ALERT: #BCHighway99 closed both NB and SB between Porteau Cove & Lions Bay due to major vehicle collision. Emergency crews enroute including Air Ambulance. Expect closure to be lengthy as #ICARS is being requested. updates to come as received. @MountainFMradio @DriveBC

    No matter what, the highway should NEVER be closed in BOTH directions. ICARS needs to relocate to Squamish or the North Shore.

      Pretty sure they have no control over where the accidents happen.

    Enoughs enough, people need to send a letter to ministry of transport to tell them to hurry up and put a barrier between the two directions already. Lives will continue to be lost until this is addressed
