There are no confirmed details about the occupants or the location or the origin of fire at this point, says the District of Squamish. However, all occupants have been displaced and Emergency Social Services has been contacted, the District says.
According to District communications official Sandra Koening, the fire is significant, and all Squamish Fire Rescue units have been dispatched.
Social services will assist the residential occupants in finding temporary accommodation.
“We don’t have information about the number of people in the building, or their location at the time of the fire,” Koening said.
Squamish Fire Rescue responded to the fire on Tantalus Road between Garibaldi Way and Diamond Road in Garibaldi Estates that started about two hours ago.
More updates are expected as they become available.
