Thefts from vehicles in Dentville, Garibaldi Estates, and Downtown Squamish

Staff report
March 30, 2022 5:29pm

Squamish RCMP are investigating several report of thefts from vehicles in the community. The thefts took place in Garibaldi Estates, Dentville, and Downtown Squamish.

On March 23, Squamish RCMP received several reports of thefts from vehicles in the 41000 block of Skyridge Place, 1000 block of Wilson Crescent, and the 1000 block of Pemberton Avenue.

Numerous items were stolen from the cars, police say. Last week, Squamish RCMP had warned the community about an increase in property crime in Squamish.

Between March 19 and 22, Squamish has had a crime spree with break-ins and theft from vehicles and homes reported in both residential and business areas. Suspects primarily target unlocked vehicles parked on streets, driveways, or parking lots during the overnight hours.

“Most of these crimes are preventable,” says Corporal Angela Kermer of the Squamish RCMP.  “Looking at our information, the majority of thefts from auto happen to cars that are unlocked with valuables easily visible.”

Anyone with any information about these thefts should call the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to the website www.solvecrime.ca
