The Squamish RCMP recovered the remains of the two individuals reported missing after falling from a paddleboard on Browning Lake.

The incident unfolded on the afternoon of May 30, 2026, when RCMP received a call around 3:00 p.m. reporting that two paddleboarders at Browning Lake in Murrin Provincial Park had entered the water and failed to resurface. Emergency crews launched a coordinated search response.

The effort drew resources from several agencies, including Squamish Search and Rescue, the BC Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services, and RCMP Air One, reflecting the scale and urgency of the operation.

After days of searching, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended the lake on June 2, and both individuals were recovered during that operation.

“We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search,” Squamish RCMP said in a statement.

Murrin Provincial Park, which had been closed during the search operation, is now open to the public.
