
The Squamish Community Foundation has awarded $40,400 in annual grants to 18 registered charities and non-profit organizations delivering programs and services in Squamish.
According to the news release, this year’s grants will support youth development, environmental stewardship, music and performing arts, health and wellbeing, accessibility, food security, recreation, and community connection.
“These grants reflect the generosity of local donors and the dedication of organizations working every day to strengthen Squamish,” said Karen Clarke, executive director of the Squamish Community Foundation. “We are proud to support projects and programs that respond to community needs and create lasting local impact.”
The 2026 grant recipients are: Chamber of Commerce, First Tee BC, Gather Literary Society, Indigenous Women Outdoors, OurSquamish Placemaking Society, Passion to Lead Society, PearlSpace Support Society, Sea to Sky Hospice Society, Sea to Sky Invasive Species Society, Sea to Sky Nordics, Snichim Foundation, SORCA, Squamish CAN, Squamish Helping Hands Society, Squamish ReBuild Society, Squamish Sikh Society, Whistler Adaptive Sports Programme Society, and Whistler Community Services Society.
According to the news release, SCF received a record 29 applications in 2026, requesting a total of $172,000 in funding. With $40,400 available, the foundation funded 18 organizations.
Grants are awarded through income earned from the foundation’s endowment funds. Applications are reviewed by an independent grant committee made up of Squamish community members, chaired by one or more board members, which recommends recipients and funding amounts to the board of directors for final approval.
According to the news release, SCF currently manages more than $1.8 million in endowment funds, and an additional $2 million in endowed assets could allow the foundation to grant up to $100,000 annually through its grants program.
