Long-time Squamish citizen Bianca Peters has announced that she will be running for a seat on council in the upcoming municipal election on October 20, 2018. 

"I thank the people of Squamish for placing their trust and faith in me to serve our community over the past four years."

Raise currently operates a cannabis dispensary called 99 North on Second Avenue, but wants to move it to a bigger location in Squamish Station Shopping Centre.

Based on preliminary data, 30 people died in motorcycle crashes from January through July 2018, with 18 in July alone.

The Brennan Park Recreation Centre pool will be closed for annual maintenance from September 5 through October 6.

Finding a parking spot in downtown Squamish will get that much more difficult next month with the permanent erasure of a parking lot in the downtown core.

These sensitive ecosystems are extremely vulnerable to invasive species such as Orange Hawkweed. “Invasive plants, like Orange Hawkweed, are prolific seeders, and are very successful at spreading along hiking and biking trails” explained Greenberg.

She said there are a number of ongoing and upcoming issues and decisions that are critical to the livability of Squamish, and she believes those discussions and decisions will require experienced and steady leadership in the Mayor’s chair. 

While she had earlier indicated that she would run for the town's top position, Squamish Mayor Patricia Heintzman has made it clear she won't seek re-election in the upcoming elections.

Loverin said he would bring his knowledge of Squamish and the needs of young families to the role if elected to city council.
