Former Member of Parliament (MP) John Weston will be seeking the nomination of the Conservative Party in the riding he served from 2008 through 2015: West Vancouver – Sunshine Coast – Sea to Sky Country, according to.a press release.
“We must prepare to seize our future,” he said, announcing his desire to serve in Parliament once again.
“As vaccines appear, we have to set our eyes on the light at the end of the pandemic horizon,” said Weston. “We must rebuild, restoring the dynamism for which our communities are renowned, including West Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Sechelt, Gibsons, and Bowen Island. To rebuild post-pandemic, Canada needs more of these communities, and their fighting spirit. Our campaign team is ready; our site is up – johnweston4mp.ca; and I’m ready to serve.”
Weston has spent much of his life in nation-building exercises, launching the Canadian Constitution Foundation in 2003; serving as MP; and founding the Canadian Health and Fitness Institute in 2018, whose goal is to “Make Canada the Fittest Nation on Earth by 2030,” according to the press release.
The release says in his previous term as MP, Weston successfully passed two Private Member’s Bills, tackling crystal meth and creating National Health and Fitness Day. Many other of his initiatives found their way into legislation and policy, such as a campaign to deal with abandoned vessels; work to improve the Registered Retirement Savings Fund for seniors; support for the Pacific Salmon Foundation and DFO’s Research Laboratory in West Vancouver; and support for people in recovery from addictions.
“John has led a laudable effort to lift the physical, mental, and spiritual health of Canadians,” said Dr. Jack Taunton, Chief Medical Officer on Canada’s 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Team. “The talented array of people that have rallied around him to form the Canadian Health and Fitness Institute are indicative of his gifts in team-building and community service. John can help brighten our prospects as the COVID cloud around us lifts.”
As a lawyer, Weston has focused on government relations, indigenous affairs, and on securing human rights for Canadians wrongfully detained overseas.
“Working with a team of devoted staff and volunteers, Weston concentrated on delivering a high level of personal service to constituents,” said Ron Wood, former Mayor of West Vancouver.
Weston speaks English, French and Mandarin. Educated at Harvard and Osgoode Hall Law School, he is a lawyer and member of the bar in three jurisdictions. His book ‘On! Achieving Excellence in Leadership’ was recently translated into Chinese and published in China. Residing in West Vancouver, he and his wife Donna have three children.

Being Conservative myself and not knowing him, just reading his biography from this article, I can say sounds like typical high ranked lawyer/politician. Bunch of things in his resume, most of them for the show and for appealing to the woke politically correct generation, or at least to very minor affected population, but nothing concrete in changing the lives of ordinary citizens at mass, those tax payers who struggle with non-sense other politicians’ decisions, missed point rules, mismanaged or ridiculous projects spending, ever increasing taxes and money grabs, suppressing if not even the effective banning of self defense/property protection in this country and criminalizing the actual victims of crime, police brutality and abuse of power, goverment manipulations, etc.
Those are the real topics that could launch him to the position he seeks, if he can promise us to work with people on resolving them…
