Conservation Officers have released more information about a Squamish bear attack that left a woman injured on Friday night.
Shortly after 8 p.m., the woman was walking her dog along a trail south of Bailey Street, when the dog ran off into thick brush. The woman then noticed two bear cubs and was suddenly charged and bitten by the sow, which ran off. The woman received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.
Conservation Officers responded to the attack site, but no bears were seen. The district has placed warning signs in the area, and the investigation continues.
The public is urged to take precautions in case of wildlife encounters, including travelling in groups, ensuring pets are leashed and carrying bear spray. For more tips, visit WildSafeBC.com

Momma Bear feels this was more a case of self defense/protection of her children than an attack. Possibly could be described as a warning, at best

Another REALLY good reason to keep your pets safe ON A LEASH!
Please be careful around here! It’s spring, cubs are running around and mamas hungry and grumpy!
