Squamish RCMP arrested a speeding drunk driver with a stolen vehicle on a Forest Service Road in Squamish.

District of Squamish and other communities are again issuing an appeal to visitors to not come to the Sea to Sky region during this long weekend.

Squamish RCMP and a gang enforcement team found loaded handgun and drugs from a car during a routine traffic stop in Downtown Squamish.

There are currently no plans to shut down the Sea to Sky Highway or any provincial roadways due to COVID-19, according to the Ministry of transportation and Infrastructure.

The District of Squamish said it shares the public anxiety about weekend visitors coming to community, and is working with SLRD, Squamish Nation, and Squamish RCMP to best tackle the problem.

The injured man was transported to a Lower Mainland hospital and remains in critical condition.  Police believe the two individuals knew each other and this was an isolated incident.
